My Thoughts on Subordination of Humans

With advent of time, Humans started domestication of animals for various uses. This was one of the great milestones of economic development of human race. Probably, This could happen because of  so-called superiority of humans over other species of living-beings.

Soon domestication of animals were felt insufficient to support the never-satiating ambitions. To find way out from this constraint of resources, Humans started to look towards the fellow human beings who can support them to pursue their ambitions. Humans were started being engaged for their physical or mental labour by partnering the fortunes / economic compensation / coercion / instilling certain kind of fears / exploiting their emotions / committing some social or existential securities.

This could also happen as most human-beings don't want the absolute independence. They want to repose their absolute independence with somebody (individual or institution) who can assure them for their curtailed version of independence.

With these factors started the subordination of humans by fellow human-beings. During initial phases, need of human subordination might be felt to find a better alternative to the domesticated working animals who can understand the command and give feedback ( capable of understanding the instructions, executing them and giving feedback). This may the reason how subordinated humans were treated almost like animals. Treatment of slaves may be quoted as an example of  animal like treatment meted out to the subordinated humans.

Human values started evolving with time. Our economic systems were becoming more and more complex. Complex economic systems and enhanced economic opportunities , of course along with the evolving thoughts on human values , resulted into furthermore complex systems of human subordination.

Humans lives in clusters. Presence of few ambitious persons acts as a contagion. So everybody likes to be have a fair or more than fair part of  their share out of the available power & prosperity. They love to be a part of this power or economic machine even at the cost of shedding of few degrees of their independence. Once most of the humans in the cluster are part of these machines, fear of missing out will be pervasive amongst the rest. They have to be a part of this system for their survival.

Now subordination has been institutionalized. Subordinates feel it as the best best thing form in this life. They are socially and psychologically conditioned so that they almost never consider subordination as exploitive. They are kept so busy with their work to deprive them from the opportunity of  broadening of views, exploring other options available to them and defining their own goal of the life.

In this blog, I am deliberately silent on superordinates and various institutionalized systems of human suppression prevalent across various countries.

I think and hope, recent thoughts of  Human Resource Management will bring a positive change.
